Unsouled is the third installment of the Unwind series, continuing from Unwholly Connor is finding out that things are a little bit warped with regards to Unwinding, and with Starkey leading his Storks to a war with the harvest camps, finding an end to the Unwinding is going to be a hard task.


I borrowed this book from the library and would have finished it in less than a week.....if my dog never got hold of it and decided to chew up the last 100 pages. Needless to say I was less than amused, however deterred i was not, i promptly bought 2 more from Amazon and read what I could of the remains of the one I had until the arrival of the replacement.


When i finally finished the book I already had Undivided on my shelf and Unsouled left me wanting to hop straight at its fanale!

I have enjoyed every book of this series so far and I'm kinda sad that I'm nearly finished.

Book 3 in the Unwind series. After I gave book 1 to my grandson when he was 13...the age of unwinding, I bought the box set for us both to read. But, he had already found the rest of the series and read them! I'm finally getting to them and thoroughly enjoying them! ( )

Another awesome installment in the UNWIND series. Our cast of characters continues to be stirred around like cherrios in a bowl of milk, going from place to place, meeting up, then being separated, finding friends and foes, Neal Shusterman has created a super exciting world and this was a great building of tension.

I particularly liked the inclusion of the reservations that were now safe havens within the US because they did not support unwinding and finding out more about what happened to Lev before he became a clapper. And I especially liked seeing Cam strike up with our regular gang of Connor and Lev (and Risa!) even if only for a bit. Cam is a character it's hard not to feel sympathy for. The idea of him is monstrous, an abomination, but it was never his idea to be made, as he points out. The abomination is really someone else's (his creator's) mind, not his, not him. He and Una make a funny/scary but potentially cute couple. Excited to read the final book! 4.5/5 stars. ( )

4.5 stars and I believe the series is improving book-to-book. I think another reviewer may have summarized it best: "Neal Shusterman weaves a tale as interesting and complex as Camus Comprix's 'internal community.'" The story continues to develop layer by layer, with multiple POV, primarily Connor, Lev, Risa and Cam. Weaved into this story is the backstory of unwinding's inventor, scientist Jansen Rheinschild and his wife, Sonia, who we've seen before. Connor and Lev are on the lam together, trying to reach Sonia, whom they believe can help them stop unwindings. Along the way, they pick up a fascinating new character, Grace, who is simple of mind, but very attuned to emotions and plays an important role in the book. Really looking forward to the conclusion.
