The second gripping novel in the New York Times bestselling Thursday Murder Club series, the first of which Kate Atkinson called "A little beacon of pleasure in the midst of the gloom. . . SUCH FUN!" Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim--the Thursday Murder Club--are still riding high off their recent real-life murder case and are looking forward to a bit of peace and quiet at Cooper's Chase, their posh retirement village.   But they are out of luck.   An unexpected visitor--an old pal of Elizabeth's (or perhaps more than just a pal?)--arrives, desperate for her help. He has been accused of stealing diamonds worth millions from the wrong men and he's seriously on the lam.   Then, as night follows day, the first body is found. But not the last. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim are up against a ruthless murderer who wouldn't bat an eyelid at knocking off four septuagenarians. Can our four friends catch the killer before the killer catches them?  And if they find the diamonds, too? Well, wouldn't that be a bonus?  You should never put anything beyond the Thursday Murder Club.   Richard Osman is back with everyone's favorite mystery-solving quartet, and the second installment of The Thursday Murder Club series is just as clever and warm as the first--an unputdownable, laugh-out-loud pleasure of a read.  … (més)

This may be the perfect heartwarming, witty whodunit. Spies, stolen diamonds, criminal middleman and woman, a twisty plot, and the lovely, ever interesting and enjoyable Thursday Murder Club. Even better than the first in the series. Can't wait for the third. ( )

Thank god my septuagenarians are back! What a fabulous book, yet again. There’s murder, mystery, treachery, comedy and love. What’s not to like?
Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron face their most dangerous murder mystery yet. There are £20 million pounds in diamonds missing and it’s up to these four to try and find them before anyone of them is taken out by the mafia.
I loved every page of this book. Can’t wait for the third! ( )

The Thursday Murder Club is back in action! Elizabeth gets a mysterious visitor from her past, while Ibrahim is mugged and his friends rally around him and vow to get back at the person who did it.

I'm not even addressing what becomes the main mystery because it happens a bit later in the book, and really it's just so much fun to see how events unfold. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim, and Ron are such a fun group to be around, a bunch of whip-smart seniors who have become friends, as well as the police officers Chris and Donna, who don't feature quite as much in this book as the previous one. I was excited to get a little more of Elizabeth's back story in this one, and I'll look forward to seeing what Osman does in his next book. ( )

Another funny entry in the Thursday Murder Club series, involving a few too many turns, and a few too many endings, like a Beethoven symphony. This one involves a middleman who accepts insurance deposits as hedges for illegal activities, a man from Elizabeth's past, MI5 and the local police, and cocaine. Any questions? ( )

A pleasant whodunnit, though protaganist former spy Elizabeth would cringe at the spelling and grammar errors in the term.. Her ex-husband, still an active spynillegally lifts 20 milliion in diamonds from a house MI5 is casing and his wife is called in to help keep him safe. It is a funny book and cleverly plotted. Lots of clues along the way which when I read another book of Osman's I will know to pickk up on. Thumbs up for when you want a well written and entertaining story. tthe 4 stars are within the genre of mysteries ( )
