As in The Pink Hat, spot color highlights a little girl concerned with climate change as she wakes up and prepares for a day of marching and protesting ("wake up, eat up, drink up"). She and her family gather with many others in front of Town Hall with signs ("There is no Planet B," etc.) to demonstrate, then go home. They "stay up" to watch the news, and the little girl is happy to see the march covered on TV - but sad when the following stories are about pollution and climate-change-related natural disasters. "Rest up," he parents tuck her in, but she can't fall asleep; instead, she gets up and writes a speech that she shares first with her bleary parents ("What's up?") and, the next day, at Town Hall. Many volunteers put their "hands up," and the final double-page-spread folds out to twice its width, showing several environmental efforts people in the town are taking: Reduce/Reuse/Recycle, city beekeeping, a swap meet, a mend station (how's that sewing machine working with no electricity?), a beach cleanup team, etc. The girl sits proudly in the middle, at a table with pamphlets, sign-ups, and petitions. Back matter includes information about many young people who are working on climate change (Greta Thunberg, etc.). Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
Celebrate young climate change activists in this charming story about an empowered girl who shows up, listens up, and ultimately, speaks up to inspire her community to take action against climate change. After attending a climate march, a young activist is motivated to make an effort and do her part to help the planet... by organizing volunteers to work to make green changes in their community, from cleaning a lake, to planting trees, to making composting bins, to hosting a clothing swap and more! Here is an uplifting picture book that is an important reminder that no change is too small--and no person is too young--to make a difference. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
