Growing up as a child of the 1950s, I can remember almost all of the songs about love that got sung over the radio. One of the most memorable ones of them had been, Love is a Many-Splendored Thing, by The Four Aces.

Love is a many splendored thing
It's the April rose that only grows in the early spring
Love is nature's way of giving a reason to be living
The golden crown that makes a man, a king
However, as I got older, I soon discovered that there’s a lot more to love than meets the eye. Being a senior citizen and the Christian woman I’ve now become, I’m more sure than ever that there’s a lot more to experience, appreciate, and understand what true love is all about than can be imagined from the surface. And I’d like to share an essential bit of knowledge about love that I’ve found in scripture regarding its value.

According to 1 CORINTHIANS 13:1-3 [NKJV], we read the following:

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

In my almost 70 years of living, the conclusion that I've found is that one needs to know what true love is and come to feel it. Individuals need to comprehend the actual significance of love and the gift and power that it possesses.

For this to occur, individuals need to obtain a guidebook that can provide them with real love proficiency. They need to be prepared to live with the powerful arsenal that it can provide, especially when they’re living their lives according to the Lord’s way.
