Color - This poem is saying be proud of the color of your skin.
The Alarm Clock - The alarm reminded her of a time she went to the store and was told blacks are not served there. She says why be so eager to wake up to face this problem again.
Image - He is not worried about the bad things people are saying because it comes right back to them. Karma.
I Am A Poet
My Poem - After all these bad things, the revolution for blacks to get better will continue. Nothing can stop them. She is scared to talk to anybody, for they might be a traitor. It will get better if you participate or not.
Perhaps You Will Remember
My Ace of Spades - The blacks are excited and accepting Malcolm X's words but these same words are scaring the whites.
Malcolm - Malcolm X made her realize what was going on but it seems his vision has blurred.

Children's Rhymes - America is based on lies that white people are okay with but black people are upset. They know they have limitations.

Blues - Blues is anything that gives you worry.
Man I Thought You was Talking Another Language that Day - This Spanish man wasn't born here but is facing the same prejudice as blacks.
You Are Loved, Awake or Dreaming
Frightened Flower - After a night of enjoyment, he is scared to walk the streets because of the prejudice.
Crawl into Bed - She has to pretend to be dead so the whites won't bother them.
