The book Ant Cities by Arthur Dorros is a book about harvester ants, but does talk about other kinds of ants. It shares all about ants. Like, what they eat and how they get their food. It talks about how ants live in a colony and each ant has a job. It shares about the ants sleep patterns and their physical attributes, as well as the types of harvester ants. This book also had a feature of text, side facts which were the small dark bolded words found on each page. These side facts gave a little more information about the ants and what they do. What was cool about the end of this book was it gave students a science experiment they could conduct about ants. This allows students to apply the knowledge they learned to a task, how fun! Despite all of these things, this would not be the first information text I read aloud to my students or give to them. ( ) Age Level: 5 and up | Grade Level: K and up. Did you know that ants have jobs? Ants may not look like they are doing anything important, but each ant that lives in a hill has a special job, whether it is cleaning the nest, digging new tunnels or gathering food. And in each ant city there is a queen ant who is busy laying eggs. In this popular Stage 2 Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science book, Arthur Dorros explores the fascinating and complex ways in which these industrious insects work together to keep their ant cities alive. Genre: Nonfiction Reading level: grades K-3 Summary: The narrator takes you through the life of an ant. He tells you about their homes and how they live. It tells about the roles that each ant must fill in order for the ant city to work. There are lots of neat facts about the different ways ant take care of their homes. The illustrations are great and provide just as much information as the story, showing different kinds of ants and how the ant city looks from underground. . The pictures have arrows pointing to the certain body parts and have a brief description of them as well. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
