This book is part of the Giants of Science Series published by Penguin Group. The book is divided into twelve chapters, includes an appendix of Freud’s major works, and a bibliography with marked materials for young readers, and a list of websites (including a URL for the Library of Congress that shows movie footage of Freud between 1929 and 1937). Chapter one introduces readers to Sigmund Freud, also known to his mother as “My Golden Sig.” The other chapters depict his adult life, including a chapter about Freud’s reasoning regarding the need to use cocaine to help patients. He is depicted as an egocentric, yet caring man, who loved his family and truly wanted to understand the human mind to help his patients. Great addition to a MS library. (
