Apunta't a LibraryThing per saber si aquest llibre et pot agradar. No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. It achieved its goal of explaining philosophy to the layman. But I wouldn't go out of my way to reccomend it to friends. ( ) I've been a casual reader of philosophy since my dad gave me a copy of "Thales to Dewey" when I was a senior in high school. I mention this only because I'm not sure if the jokes were funnier to me because I was familiar with most of the philosophical points they were illustrating. Either way, one isn't going to walk away from this book knowing a great deal about philosophy. But it might take the scary/snobby edge off of the subject and allow one to more comfortably take up reading a good philosophy book. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
Here's a lively, not-so-reverent crash course through the great philosophical traditions, schools, concepts, and thinkers. It's Philosophy 101 for everyone who knows not to take all this heavy stuff too seriously. Some of the Big Ideas are existentialism (what do Hegel and Bette Midler have in common?), philosophy of language (how to express what it's like being stranded on a desert island with Halle Berry), feminist philosophy (why, in the end, a man is always a man), and much more. Finally--it all makes sense!--From publisher description. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
