( ) This review was originally written for the website ListerX.com, which is now defunct. It can also be found on my blog, The Graphic Librarian. Cover At the time of the ARC's printing the cover had not been selected. My copy is merely black with all of Tokyopop's and Warcraft's logos neatly in place. However, the real cover has since been completed, as is obvious from the image at the top of this page. Although finding a high resolution picture to use for reviewing hasn't been possible, from what I can tell, the fonts selected suit the Warcraft brand name nicely and the image itself, although not as interesting as V.01, is of the highest quality - an excellent example of what can be found within. Artwork All I can really say is WOW! (No pun intended.) The art is absolutely amazing - I've never seen such detailed work before! Of course, I doubt Blizzard would have it any other way. They're a company that's always been known for their attention to detail. The backgrounds are fully realized and completely realistic in every way. Jae-Hwan Kim does everything he can to make the reader feel like they're really there - living out everything right beside the characters. The action sequences are the same way - excellently rendered and as realistic as you can get when the characters are battling a mass of undead creatures. As for the characters themselves, they've all been drawn with the greatest attention to detail, right down to the muscle and vein structure in some cases. The artist really knows how to show off all of his skills to the very best. Plot **Possible Spoilers Warning** This volume picks up pretty much right where V.01 left off with Kalec and Anveena, aided by Jorad and Tyri, heading towards the mountains in search of a dwarf who might be able to remove the slave collars placed on Kalec and Anveena by Dar'Khan. Things quickly go awry when the group is attacked by a group of undead creatures in the mountains. They are soon separated from each other and Jorad and Tyri become mysteriously encased in giant stalagmites of ice. Kalec becomes the prisoner of a band of dwarves in the middle of an unusual task, and Anveena finds herself rescued by a lone Tauran and his undead (but still seemingly human) master, Baron Valimar Mordis. He claims he wants only to destroy the undead army that spawned him and help Anveena find her friends. However, there is more to the Baron that meets the eye, as Kalec himself soon discovers. But will his knowledge come in time to save Anveena from what the Baron has planned? Will the two ever see Jorad or Tyri again? And will the group realize too late that an old enemy has returned with devious plans of his own? Content Warnings Language = None. Violence = Yes, lots of it. But what else would you expect from a series called "Warcraft"? Nudity = None. Sexual Situations = None. Ratings Cover - 7/10 - Eye-catching with good fonts and an interesting cover illustration. Artwork - 10/10 - What can I say? I'm in complete and utter awe! Plot - 6.5/10 - A little confusing in places, but I haven't read V.01. Also, it seemed a bit predictable. Overall - 8/10 - The story seemed fairly formulaic. Still, if you're a Warcraft fan you'll most likely want to add this one to your collection. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
