Apunta't a LibraryThing per saber si aquest llibre et pot agradar. No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. A modern P&P with wider representation? Sounds like something I would love, but somehow this was incredibly boring. Doesn't much resemble P&P, more like a dislike-to-love romance with familiar names thrown in. ( ) This turned out to be a good contemporary romance once it got past the character introductions. That part read like the author was working from a diversity checklist, or at least it did from my non-Gen Z viewpoint. I'd call this more 'inspired by' than 'a modern spin on' Pride and Prejudice because it shared so much of what was going on in the hearts and minds of our enemies-to-lovers couple, something P&P skimped on. It included a lot of the classic work's key elements and plot points but was still very much its own story. I received a digital copy of this book as a GR giveaway but it’s also available free on Amazon Prime First Reads this month, Aug. ‘21. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
"Welcome to Bennet House, the only all-women's dorm at prestigious Longbourn University, home to three close friends who are about to have an eventful year. EJ is an ambitious Black engineering student. Her best friend, Jamie, is a newly out trans woman studying French and theatre. Tessa is a Filipina astronomy major with guy trouble. For them, Bennet House is more than a residence--it's an oasis of feminism, femininity, and enlightenment. But as great as Longbourn is for academics, EJ knows it can be a wretched place to find love."--Page 4 of cover. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
