Apunta't a LibraryThing per saber si aquest llibre et pot agradar. No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. This is lovely -- warm, soft and cosy! It’s satisfyingly faithful to the novel -- I recognised a lot of lines of dialogue -- and it’s interesting to revisit the story in a way that isn’t always quite so tightly filtered through Cath’s perspective. The manga has a first-person narration, and the illustrations effectively convey, and focus on, Cath’s emotions. But you can see things, like the way Levi looks at her, even while Cath herself misinterprets his interest in her. This volume is 2 of 4 and ends on a cliffhanger. Even though I knew how things unfold next, I wanted more -- and I wanted it now, not whenever volume 3 comes out! So I reread the novel (albeit mostly skipping over the part of the story covered in this volume). I could never get into this book as a novel, but I find myself thoroughly enjoying it as a graphic novel. It’s been over a year since the first one came out, I had a few pages of what the heck is going on but once the story got rolling and everything became familiar again I still find this book really fun. I don’t like where it ended since I know that’ll be another year before we get book 3, but in general, I found it quite fun. You still have the nerdy, cute girl that writes fanfiction and the pretty hot guy who think she’s cute. I mean it’s a typical love story, but it all works, and it comes out quite nicely in graphic novel format. A perfectly fine adaptation of a perfectly fine novel continues at its slow, character-driven pace -- by the end we're only halfway through the novel, with two more manga to go! Embarrassing admission: Since it's in the manga format, I started reading it from right to left as if it were a Japanese import. I was ten pages in (10 !!!) before I realized I was actually reading the book backward. I received a copy of this book for free for promotional purposes. Full disclosure: I have not read volume 1 of this manga. However, I have read Fangirl, the novel that this is based upon, and have always been curious about this manga adaptation. I am familiar with the story so I was able to read and understand this volume without having read volume 1. If I could use one word to describe this book it would be cozy. It feels like such a comfort read, probably because the book is set during the fall/winter. It has those cozy vibes that makes you want to read this while curled up with a blanket and a hot beverage. I loved the art style. The illustrator specializes in black and white manga style and that is very evident. The art looks like a classic manga. The illustrator did a phenomenal job conveying all of Cath’s emotions. I liked that the manga followed in the book’s footsteps and used snippets from the Simon Snow books and Cath’s fan fiction. Since this manga doesn’t use chapters, it helped separate different parts of the story. Generally, I prefer chapters in manga to avoid it feeling like one long scene. Overall, this was such a warm and heartfelt read. I cannot wait to read the next one since this one ends on such a cliffhanger! Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

"Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, everybody is a Simon Snow fan, but for Cath, being a fan is her life. Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath just can't let go... Cath just wants to hang out with her twin sister and write fanfiction. But now that they're in college, her sister doesn't have time for her. And life keeps pulling Cath further and further out of her shell. For the first time ever, Cath has her own social circle. There's Nick, her handsome classmate who wants her to write short stories with him... And then Levi, who keeps showing up when she isn't looking for him... Actually...maybe Cath's circle is more of a triangle?"--Amazon. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

Other than that I'm still really enjoying this! The art is super well-fitted to this story, and again, Levi is downright adorable. I love that puppy dog of a man. :3 ( )
