Set in the dry areas of Australia during a drout the main character for some reason has decided to be a diver, even thought there has been no water in the pool for 6 years. This poor lad has the bank manager as his father and now that people are staring to loose their farms he is not very popular and in the way that children ofen do the dislike in the parents is passed to through to the children, so this poor boy who was quite liked is now in the situation were boys chace him and people do not come to his birthday party.
the narration is the main character speeking to his guardian angel "doug" and throughout the book he is asking him for help.
This is a well paced novel with plenty happeing all of time. Perhaps more for the upper primaries/lower secondaries than for an adult like me
