I have not read book one in this series, which I think might be a serious oversight. The characters from book one making an appearance in Deadly Target are simply wonderful and beg the reader to catch their story. Erin Larson is also a wonderful character both strong and realistic. She takes a lot on herself with her podcast and looking after her mom. Still, when her ex Nathan finds he has inherited a cold case from his father, who has been inexplicably shot, he turns to Erin and her expertise. The two of them slow burn the pages while getting to the bottom of the mystery and try to find their way back to each other. Intrigue is such a fun word when applied to a literary format. This book has plenty, along with questions galore, that need answering as the story progresses. The book sucks you in right from the beginning as Erin narrowly escapes a brush with death during a boating accident in the first few pages of the book. As the book progresses it begins to feel as if the incidental occurrences throughout the story are indeed all tied together, but it isn’t until the end that the reader can pull it all together. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.5 out of 5. I received an advance review copy for free from Partners In Crime Virtual Book Tours, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . Deadly Target, the second installment in the Rocky Mountain Courage series, is even better than the first. This is a very fast paced novel that starts with a bang, is full of twists and turns, and will keep readers entertained from beginning to end. I did not find the plot predictable, nor did the villain jump out at me until they were intended to. These are all signs of a well designed storyline. This is a romantic suspense novel, and romance fans will not miss out in this story. While it felt a bit "insta-love" to me, it remained enjoyable. Overall, this was a good read and I'm looking forward to the final book in this series.I received a complementary copy of this book, opinions expressed are entirely my own. Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . Suspense is currently my favorite genre and this one met my requirements of fast moving and a mystery. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy Christian suspense. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

"Criminal psychologist Erin Larson's dreams of a successful career come to a screeching halt when she nearly loses her life in a boating accident and then learns that her mother tried to commit suicide. She leaves her job to care for her mother in Montana. At least there Erin is able to produce her podcast, which focuses on solving missing persons cold cases. Nathan Campbell's father was investigating such a case when he was shot, and now Nathan needs to enlist Erin's help to solve the case. She's certainly good at what she does. The only problem? She's his ex. As the two dig deeper, it becomes clear that they, too, are being targeted--and the answers to their questions are buried deep within the past Erin struggles to explain and longs to forget."-- No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

There are a bit too many hints that Erin has a past secret that separated her from Nathan, given before the secret is revealed for my preference. I didn't expect what the secret ended up being though--at least not until closer to when she revealed it. ( )
