"An Australian ABC of Animals" is an alphabet book created by well-known Aboriginal artist, Bronwyn Bancroft. Not only is this book quite a good introduction to the alphabet but it also is a competent resource in terms of teaching young children about Australian animals and Aboriginal Art. The text is very simple, as it just includes the names of the animals shown for each letter of the alphabet.The illustrations are beautiful as they are really stand out with their vivid colors and their attention to detail. As well as this the last page of the book includes a brief biography about Bancroft. "An Australian ABC of Animals" would be appropriate for ages of about 2 to 6. ( )

Very beautiful aboriginal-style illustrations of Australian animals, with just one word per page (the name of the animal). I love it; my daughter finds that it does not have enough words in it. People not already familiar with Australian animals may find the illustrations frustrating, since they are not realistic. ( )
