Emmett is a city boy who longs to have a real, live pig. His parent’s give him a gift for his birthday. It is a ride to a farm to spend a day with his very own pig. This book has been around for a long time. I read it when I was learning to read! And it still is a great story with sweet, soft pictures and easy-to-read words. ( )

The kid is named Emmett and he really wants a pig and then he gets a pig and they are friends. A nice story that might leave kids struggling to relate if they're not also really into pigs. ( )
