In this story, a bunny and a raccoon are private eyes that help a bear find a whistle he lost while riding his bike. I could see this book being a bit confusing for an early reader trying to follow along with the plot. The overall plot with helping the bear find the whistle is muddled with conversation between the bunny and the raccoon. There are several jokes about playing Slap Jack. The bunny and raccoon seem to get distracted easily and get off topic. The sentence structure and word choice is appropriate for an early reader, but the early reader may get a little confused about what the characters are doing or may miss some of the jokes.
