A troubled young mother yearns for a shot at redemption in this heartbreaking yet hopeful story from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover. After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the bridges Kenna burned are proving impossible to rebuild. Everyone in her daughter's life is determined to shut Kenna out, no matter how hard she works to prove herself. The only person who hasn't closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna's daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna's life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them. Pg. 66: This book will cause emotional damage. I can already tell. I think that he's about to find out who she really is. And being her surrogate father and all, he'll want to protect Deim or whatever, then he'll fall in love with Kenna and they'll raise her daughter and live happily ever after. With some twists in the middle.
Pg. 229: I feel like this was such an amazing story. It was a bit different from other Colleen Hoover books. It was mostly about a mother finding a way to be in her daughters life both only in a way that was in the best interest of her. And the emotions of this book are entirely overwhelming. No one is wrong but it's like there isn't a right answer either. But ultimately, what I love most about this story is that it's so raw and realistic.
Finished: As a mother, this book tore into me. The pain that I felt for Kenna was real. I could not imagine that situation. In all honesty, it made me check myself on not taking having my kids with me for granted. The forgiveness of Kenna from Scotty's parents was a bit sudden and seemed like it was out of nowhere. But overall, good book. If it wasn't for that, I would have given it a 5 star. It's still a really good book and I cried for the last 60 pages and over other parts of the story too. ( )

Reminders of Him starts off with 26-year-old Kenna Rowan returning to the town where she made a huge mistake about 5 years prior that landed her in prison. Now that’s she’s been released, she aims to get her life back together which includes meeting her 4-year-old daughter Diem for the first time since giving birth while serving her jail sentence. Diem is being raised by her paternal grandparents. When Kenna gets back to town she also meets a handsome bar owner and ex-NFL player named Ledger Ward.

The story is told in alternating first person POV by Kenna and Ledger. I like this style of writing because it presents a more detailed view about what’s going on with these characters. Kenna lets us know how she came to meet her daughter’s father and she reveals more about her past. Ledger is torn between wanting to help Kenna or to keep her out of his life. There’s alot of tension between the two of them due to the circumstances.

Colleen Hoover loves to weave a deliciously tangled web of drama, heartache and romance into her books. The theme of redemption is a main part of the story as Kenna tries to get her life back together. She reveals her story bit by bit and this was an emotional read. I rooted for her. ( )

Such a good book. I love the story so much and I could not put this book down. As soon as I finished I was ready to read again. So many plot twists and definitely shocked me. This one made me cry for sure. Loved it. ( )

Not sure if I should give it 3 or 4 stars, so i'll go with 3.75⭐
I really did like this book, but I also was happy when it finally ended. It bothered me how kenna still continued kissing ledger even after knowing he is scotty bf. I found that ledger's character was represented so good. I loved how ledger could feel related to scottys parents, but also kenna feelings about the whole her mom seeing diem thing. Am fond of the letters kenna wrote to scotty, honestly, was obsessed with them. Diem was a rly cute character, which i found very enjoying. I loved the ending when Grace finally forgave kenna. I wish i could see more of kenna and diem interacting with eachother ( )

It's a spoiler-free review. Go ahead and dive in!

“There is nothing in this world that would make me happier than you getting to meet Diem. If I knew how to change their minds, I would do it in a heartbeat, Kenna.”

Colleen never disappoints! And I am a proud supporter of this statement. There hasn’t been a single book of hers that hasn’t left me in an emotional whirlwind for days, even weeks at a time. If you’re about to read this book, please keep a box of tissues next to you. I do not remember the last time I cried as much as I did for this book. There hasn’t been a single chapter where I haven’t shed tears. And even though I do not take pride in accepting how sensitive I can be, I have no regret or shame that I cried for this book. It has made me feel human, made me feel alive again. I’d been living under the rock for so long, I haven’t really appreciated what I have, nor have I tried enough for better. But now, I’ll do both.

“Regret keeps you stuck on pause. So does prison. When you get out of here, make sure you hit play so you don’t forget to move forward.”

I love Kenna, and Diem, and Ledger, and Grace, and Patrick, and Roman, and Scotty. Heck, there’s no one I hate. Not even Leah. The book isn’t a story of a villain and a hero. It’s a story that rekindles the flame of love. The flame that goes beyond and above villains and heroes and choosing sides. At the worst points in this book, I’ve wailed, but the love that came with the sobs has filled my heart to the brim. Diem belongs to Kenna, she’s what kept her alive those days in prison, and when she’s threatened, I feel my heart clench with so much pain I think it might shatter. It doesn't though, it keeps beating with a hope that Diem deserves her mother, and Kenna deserves a chance at life, one that her mother was too reckless to give, and one that Kenna lost on that one, bad night.

“They say boredom is a sign of intelligence,” Kenna says.
“She’s very smart, so that would make sense.”

One thing is for certain, I love Diem more than anyone. Her imagination, her love for Ledger, her thoughtfulness. Heck, the four year old is better than my nineteen year old stupid self. I haven’t met her, I mean, she’s not even real. But I agree with Ledger. Maybe even I would give my entire life away if that meant she could have a normal life with her parents. But whatever it is, I’m still happy she has such loving grandparents, a mother who loves her more than life itself, and Ledger, who has loved her as much as he’d love his own children someday.

I’m just so happy for them, I’m probably about to break down again, but for you, cancel your TBRs, cancel your CRs, just order this book, or get the ebook and start reading this. Might as well find solace in knowing this is the IT book of the year! ( )
