Roger Radcliffe (Ben Wright) and his wife, Anita (Lisa Davis), raise two dalmatians, Pongo (Rod Taylor) and Perdita (Cate Bauer). After Perdita delivers a litter of fifteen puppies, Anita's former schoolmate, Cruella De Vil (Betty Lou Gerson) demands the Radcliffe's sell their small pups to her. Pongo and Perdita soon realize that they have added eighty-six additional puppies along with their own that they must care for. This begins the adventure to save the 101 dalmatians from the cruel Cruella De Vil. Highly recommend.
Dalmatian couple Pongo and Perdita must race to rescue their 15 puppies -- and a batch of 84 other stolen Dalmatian pups -- from the clutches of the evil Cruella de Vil and her henchmen Horace and Jasper. Along the way, they encounter numerous other animal friends to help in their journey, and must outwit their pursuers to ensure escape.
101 Dalmatians has always been one of my favorite Disney films, and it still sits atop the pile for me. The lovability of the animal characters, from Pongo and Perdita to their pups and the other animals they cross paths with, paired with the memorable villains in the form of Cruella, Horace, and Jasper make for an all-time animated classic, and one that I can watch time and time again. The design, storytelling, characters, music, and pretty much everything else make this film the masterpiece it is, and it's one I can't recommend enough.
Content Concerns: There's really nothing objectionable in the film, aside from threats of violence against the dogs and other animals and, in turn, the animals' attacks on the villains, and some smoking from Cruella.
When a litter of Dalmatian puppies are abducted by the minions of Cruella De Vil, the owners must find them before she uses them for a diabolical fashion statement.
