I like the surmise of these, that the Queen was a bright cookie and sets her APS tasks to investigate goings on in the palace. In this we have a missing painting a poison pen campaign and a body in the swimming pool. Which of these are related and what's irrelevant? Gradually the strands entwine and there is a pattern that emerges. The fun in these is the interaction between the Queen and her APS (in on the secret) and the heads of the household offices (in the dark). There's an air of nostalgia in here, with Her Maj no longer here. I like to think that she might have been this bright and that she might have enjoyed them. ( ) Audiobook Another fun mystery solved by QEII and her APS Rosie Oshodi. I don't read a lot of mysteries but the two by SJ Bennett are fun and perfect to keep me engaged while I'm doing some long runs. They aren't too gruesome and I'm able to follow along even if I get distracted by traffic or something else on the trail. I love the whole idea of the Queen as secret detective. "A Three Dog Problem" was a fun read starring the late Queen Elizabeth II. I didn't realise it was a sequel until I picked it up and, unable to find the first book quickly, decided to try it. There were some excellent descriptions of the palace and I enjoyed the banter between the Queen and Phillip, and I liked the relationship between the Queen and Rosie. However, the plot did plod along at times and the mystery wasn't that exciting. I would like to read the first novel as many reviewers say it was the better story. This is a delightful book. The author puts Queen Elizabeth II in the role of a behind-the-scenes detective in solving murders and thefts in Buckingham Palace in a contemporary setting. The author has been masterful in fitting the persona of the Queen into the role of a master puppeteer who mirthfully manipulates her stuffed-shirt key administrative staff with the aid of a second or third-level member of the household staff. Bennett crafts her characters very well, doing all but giving them life and breath. I shall read more of Bennett's works. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

"Amateur detective Queen Elizabeth II is back in this hugely entertaining follow-up to The Windsor Knot, in which Her Majesty must determine how a missing painting is connected to the shocking death of a staff member inside Buckingham Palace"-- No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
