This is a very fun read! The plot is nicely paced out and twists are not there for twists sake but rather move the story forward. The author manages to not only keep reader interest but encourage it with each development. The dialogue is fun and the main character is charismatic though interactions with outs can seem awkward at times. A good read and great start to the series. ( )Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . Well, it's a fun book. Overall, I enjoyed it. I laughed at some of the dialogue, and the story idea was original and thought-provoking, even as I anticipated some of the twists. I enjoy a quick romp of a read, and this fell nicely into that category. Even though it's almost cliche at this point, I enjoy a good, strong heroine who can kick a** and have witty comebacks. I do have a couple of issues, though. The chemistry between the main characters felt forced and their... connection, I suppose is the word, just sort of *poof* here it is. I felt like there needed to be another couple of chapters toward the beginning just to develop their relationship. I'm also not a fan of using jealousy or emotional manipulation to push forward a relationship, but that may just be a pet peeve, along with every character being gorgeous and chiseled. And the big "romance" scene was... fine? Maybe I've been spoiled by some good bodice rippers in my time. BUT all that to say, it was a fun quick read!Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . I was not sure about this book when I started it, now I am an avid fan. My favorite thing about the book is how the perception of the world slowly develops with each twist. Even the parts I was able to predict came with a twist I couldn't foretell. All in all an excellent read. I highly recommend! (particularly for those who like winged men) Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . This book was an easy 4 for me that I devoured in one sitting. Although I will admit to being a sucker for romances between humans and angelic beings, but even with that aside the story was a lot of fun to read!In regards to the leads, I loved how tough and bad-ass Arya was, and that she actually trained to become that way and hone those skills instead of just being given a gift. I also really enjoyed Azriel's character, and the banter between the two of them was priceless! My only criticism would be that the pacing of the story felt a bit off and unnatural at points. By that, I mean that while the reactions, etc. made sense to the story, the speed with which they came to those reactions felt a bit forced at times and could have used a bit more sussing out. I also would have liked to have seen a bit more time pass before the L word came out. I get that they were in a high-stress situation that can make emotions feel more intense so I am not saying it doesn't make sense, but it felt insta-loveish and I like it when relationships actually develop before the word love is used. Thank you to Mystic Owl Publishing and Alexis L. Menard for providing me with a copy of this book through LibraryThing. This honest review is provided voluntarily. A very different type of fantasy than we're seeing a lot of nowadays, a refreshing and intriguing story, The plot is solid; full of twists and heart-wrenching moments, I was on the edge of my seat throughout and couldn't put it down for the life of me! The villians antics paint a disturbing picture, you root for good throughout and the descriptions of some of the atrocities Adzehate has inflicted upon her subjects could be triggering for some. However, the sincerity of the tale adds only to its intrigue. " Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

Breaking the curse will risk her heart, her life, and the future she never thought possible. Before Arya was Chosen, she knew nothing of what lay waiting in the eternal night-certainly not alluring yet arrogant winged Watchers, a cursed queen, nor the possibility that she could be more than a runner, carrying messages through the vampyre-infested wastelands of Valdihr. But the biggest surprise waiting in the dark is the brazen Watcher who sparks her heart and calls her a Huntress. A hundred years shrouded in darkness and Arya is the only one who can finally bring back the dawn. With a blessing that marks her for death and an infuriatingly tantalizing man at her side, Arya must embrace her calling and her courage in order to face the danger lurking in the shadows. Because the night holds more than just secrets, and the monsters are closer than she realizes. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
