Lynette Eason has done it again! Crossfire, Extreme Measures 2, definitely delivers on all counts. It is an action packed thriller. The plot revolves around characters who are believable and very likeable. I also love the fact the main character is a female law-enforcement officer. I have read many of Ms. Eason’s novels and I especially like the way she ties the books of her series together with characters – it’s always great to find a familiar character in a new book! I have come to expect great stories from this author – and look forward to her next one! [I got this book through LibraryThings’ Early Reviewer program.] ( )

I received Crossfire by Lynette Eason from the Early Reviewers Giveaway program. This is the story of Julianna James, FBI hostage negotiator, who along with her sister, Dottie, is being targeted by a killer with ties from her past. Along with Former Army Ranger Clay Fox, Julianna must find the killer before they strike again. This was my first book that I have ready by Eason. It is a fast paced read with lots of action that will keep the reader engaged. I enjoyed the story line, however, would have loved for more character development to help tie the story together. ( )

This book starts off with a terrifying hostage situation and this is just a preview of what's to come! Crossfire is an exciting, pulse-altering story filled with danger, suspense, and great character development. I was fascinated with the methods of skilled hostage negotiator Julianna Jameson, but I also admired her efforts to provide a stable home for her teenage sister. Clay Fox is a school resource officer haunted by his tragic past but still determined to make a difference. Especially when a hostage situation occurs that is Julianna's worst nightmare!

Realistic characters and events that could be torn from today's news make Crossfire totally believable, and there is also a powerful faith message woven into the plot. Trust and forgiveness are lessons that need to be learned, as Julianna and Clay struggle to determine their feelings for each other. Crossfire is the second book in the Extreme Measures series, but it can easily be read alone. Lynette Eason demonstrates her ability to captivate readers and I highly recommend Crossfire to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense.

I received a copy of this book through Revell Reads. There was no obligation for a positive review. ( )

I really enjoyed this storyline, and the little bit of historical the author used as part of the plot. With all of the shootings and school shootings that have happened in the last two decades this novel really fits with the times. FBI special agent Julianna Jameson is one of the best negotiators, but when she is specifically requested to a scene by a culprit, things seem a little more off than the normal cases. Typically she is not requested and this one feels a little personal and yet she cannot help thinking this is more than just a hostage situation. Julianna is not only racing against time, as this person keeps slipping away, the fifteenth anniversary of her high school shooting is coming up, and her sister becomes a target. Putting all of her training and skills to the test, Julianna is pushed to her limit while trying to keep a straight head in the game. This novel had lots of twists and I loved the ending of it all. I love how the author write the characters, and used a very forefront event as the backdrop for this story. Thank you to the Revell blogger program for the free book. ( )

It’s books like Crossfire that cement Lynette Eason in readers’ minds as a go-to romantic suspense author as the subplots add depth and reasons for the suspense.

Julianna is a great hostage negotiator. An event from her past propels her to excel at her job. When her past finds its way to her present, she’s left scrambling for answers. During a negotiation she meets Clay Fox, former military and current resource office at the same high school Julianna’s sister attends.

I really enjoyed the addition of both Clay’s and Julianna’s sisters and the fast friendship they formed. Eason also doesn’t glamorize high school life (in the past or the present)—she includes a bully and some students with less than positive outlooks on life.

This book kept me guessing as to who was behind everything with some intense scenes that had me turning the pages late into the night. You don’t want to miss this one.

Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive or negative review. All opinions are my own. ( )
