I had to stop and put down fourth wing because the book was pretty slow and I had to read something else so I decided on picking this one up instead but I will pick up the fourth wing when I am ready for it to be read. Even thou I read a bit of this but I was kinda bored with this one I don't really remember when I read this but I picked up again and this book held my attention from the first chapter to the very last. And I didn't think being gay back in the 1800's but I am sure that those people had to hide very well cause it wasn't approved back then and the pace of this book was a fast and so far I liked the book and the story and it seemed the two ladies Vaudline and Lenna didn't trust M. Morley and Constable Back. But towards the end of the book I thought Constable Back was good friends with Mr. Morley but it seemed that Constable Back didn't really trust or like Mr. Morley and I first I thought Lenna was having her doubts about Vaudline and not trusting her either but that seemed Lenna did trust and believed in Vaudline and I am glad that Lenna got her answers about how her sister was killed and I did gave this book a 3 stars. ( ) The London Séance Society by Sarah Set in 1873 Lenna is set on uncovering the truth of her Sister Evie's Death. She teams up with renowned spiritualist Vaudeline D’Allaire. Vaudeline is infomous for conjuring the spirits of murder victims to find out who killed them. The women delve into the spirtual world specifically the exclusive London Séance Society, one in which only men are allowed. As they get closer to the truth, secrets slolwy surface and lives are in danger. The story moves at a steady pace told in alternating voices. With knowledge of the spirtiual world, belivable plot and lialabe characters. This slow burn had me hooked from the first page. Sarah Penner is definitely and Author to follow. I look forward to more of her work. I highly recommend The London Séance Society to those who enjoy Historical crime/suspense with a paranormal twist. Truly a good read. If you like historial fiction and the occult, this is a book for you. I enjoyed the heft that the female characters carried in this story. They were strong women, but the author kept with the historical facts and gave them only the power that they could reasonably have in that time period. I did enjoy reading the way the author procured power and flaunted the gifts that females had in that age. Women always hold power, no matter what the time period and it's a treat to read about women using that leverage in a time when women traditionally were relegated to the background. The details are tricky so pay attention to the plot. I enjoyed the romantic complications throughout the story all around. Love permeated the novel in so many ways and I appreciate the author's skill in weaving it throughout in many different ways. The seance details were mesmerizing and give you a look into that time period. What a fascinating read. Told by two POVs, Lena Wickes a spiritualist’s understudy, and Mr. Morley, VP of the Society’s Department of Spiritualism, set in the late 1800s in London. Throughout the book, I kept thinking of all the research that went into this story (as with The Lost Apothecary.) Great insight into this gothic-vibe world, thanks to the author’s research. I enjoyed the thread of suspense, murder, and magic, the deceit that was so common in this line of work… one of the few professions back then where women were considered more adept than men for this job. Probably my favorite part was the author’s notes at the end which gave insightful info from her research. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this interesting and unique story! Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

But as the women team up with the powerful men of London's exclusive Seance Society to solve the mystery, they begin to suspect that they are not merely out to solve a crime, but perhaps entangled in one themselves.
