This is actually quite a good book on a subject that is so often dominated by matters of taste, style and subjective opinion. Of course, some opinion does come into the book, but the author does his best to set out objective principles which are applicable in many different contexts as to what good expository preaching actually is, and how to do it. Worth reading. ( ) I am currently reading this book as part of a course to help equip Christians for leadership and the mission. It shows that there are clear methods behind effective sermon construction, they are not something that can be just put together on a whim and a prayer. Lots of useful reference links to other books which is helpful. One warning theme that comes out of the book is that the people in the pews can be taught erroneous doctrine through misapplied exegesis. I am 50 years old and have heard thousands of sermons and messages. My respect for the preacher who delivers a sermon well has greatly increased and I find myself very sobered at the prospect of delivering a sermon one day. The book is quite technical and the reader may have to keep going back on himself in order to grasp the various terms and phrases. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
After defining expository preaching, Robinson presents a ten-stage process of sermon development, showing you how to get from the text to the sermon, decide its purpose, shape an outline and preach it so that people will listen. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
