The King's Inquisitor by Tonya Ulynn Brown was the second in the Stuart Monarch series. Queens Mary and Elizabeth are dead and James is now king. The son of Mary's almoner has a place at court but is forced to become part of the North Berwick witch trials. Brown describes the horror of being condemned as a witch, including exposing corrupt officials who used the trials for their own benefit. William Broune must choose his path: the easy path that will lead to a good marriage and successful court life or the very dangerous path already being tread by a Scottish woman who sees the hypocrisy and fulfills her Christian duty to help others. Both books were good: historical fiction but with some romance woven in as well. ( ) Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

The queen of Scotland is dead. Her almoner's son, William Broune, has fulfilled his father's wish that he should serve the king, James VI, at court. William finds himself caught between loyalty to the king or loyalty to his conscience. As William is forced to serve as the king's inquisitor in the North Berwick witch trials, he must make a decision. Will he do what the king asks, and earn the wife, title, and prestige he has always desired, or will he let a bold Scottish lass influence him to follow his heart and do the right thing? If William doesn't make the right choice, he may be among the accused. Book Two of the Stuart Monarch series. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
