This book is almost 40 years old, but it still is captivating just because the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is quite unique, certainly when it comes to Egypt and (a bit less) the Ancient Near East. Nice introductions (of course, a bit outdated by now) and meticulously enlightened illustrations. Free pdf can be found on the site of the METMA. ( )
