"You Can Do Anything, Daddy!" is a wonderfully written book from Michael Rex. The story starts when a young boy asks his dad if he would save him if he was taken by pirates. The story continues to escalate and grow as the pirates turn into gorilla pirates and eventually robot gorilla pirates. Throughout the story the dad is not only chasing these pirates but he is also having to battle his way past sharks, tigers, snakes, and vultures. In the end the dad saves his son and his son gives him some cold apple juice and bandages up his scrapes and cuts. I really enjoyed this book because it was a favorite of my oldest son when he was four years old. My son loved the concept of the book and would ask me questions similar and his questions would continue to escalate and get more and more creative just like the boy in the book. The artwork in this book is amazing and helped my son to really get into the story. Some classroom extensions that could be done with this book would be to have the students draw a picture of their hero that would save them and another would be to ask the students what kind of ideas they have about what other situations or obstacles would their hero save them from. Super book for dads to read with the kids. Involves a daring rescue from robot gorilla pirates from Mars, snakes and vultures. In the end, its the kid who truly saves the day. What more could you ask from a bedtime story with dad? Illustrations are fun, colorful and go well with the text. Dad has a nice receding hairline. ( )

A boy asks his father what he would do in different far-fetched situations, and the father always answers back about how he would save his son. ( )

A boy and his father recount the lengths that they would go to for each other, becoming more and more absurd. Funny yet sweet. ( )
