Erin has to spend a lot of time in the hospital, until eventually she feels as though she's floating between two worlds, and two groups of friends: hospital friends, and school friends. Spotting "cloud babies" - animal shapes in the clouds - always used to make her feel better, but after missing so much time at school, she feels as though her school friends have grown up without her, and cloud babies are "for babies." Her parents work together with her teacher to have the whole class visit the hospital as "book buddies," and everyone learns to appreciate the cloud babies they can see from the window.

There aren't too many picture books about kids who have to have long hospital stays. This is a good one.

I follow @adailycloud on Instagram and love his daily cloud illustration posts, so imaginative and fun! So when I saw this book, I was so excited! And of course, the whole book is full of more cloud babies in the skies of each page and they are amazing. The story itself is very heart touching as well and shows how something that seems so simple and basic can connect us with others and bring joy. (Also love Eoin Colfer, so this was just an all around treat haha). ( )
