I recently finished listening to an incredible audiobook and can't stop thinking about it! In Someone Else's Shoes by JoJo Moyers was an absolute delight. The characters of Nisha and Sam are so well-developed, and their story is truly captivating. Nisha and Sam couldn't be more different - one is wealthy, and the other is not. Their lives collide when a mix-up involving expensive shoes leads to a series of unfortunate events. Nisha is desperate to retrieve her shoes as they hold significant value in her divorce proceedings, while Sam is torn between returning the shoes and her love for them. It's a rollercoaster of emotions - from laughter to joy and even a few tears. The audiobook is narrated by Daisy Ridley, who does an incredible job bringing the story to life. I can't recommend this book enough - it's a definite five-star read, and I'm eager to explore more of JoJo's work in the future. ( ) Eileen. This is a fun book; I don't want all my suggestions to be serious fare. Several people, including Jan Rivero, recommended it to me when I was looking for books to cheer me up. I think the setup is like The Prince and the Pauper--two women accidentally pick up the other's bag at the gym. As each experiences something of the other one's life, awkward and funny encounters occur but some new understands too. The book is a bit long 400+ pages, it is a fast read. CHPL has many paper copies, as well as audio and ebook formats. The paperback edition came out this week. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I tend to come off of tough, intellectual, or wrenching books, so the relative peace and romance in this book were 100% appreciated. I enjoyed the characters -- the two women were looking for such similar goals even though their lives were totally different. The plot twisted so that each of them could help one another -- what a way to keep the reader guessing AND to help the reader reexamine their prejudices and biases. I enjoyed reading this and also learning about myself. Would definitely recommend this book. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

"A story of mix-ups, mess-ups and making the most of second chances, this is the new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You and The Giver of Stars. Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else's shoes? Nisha Cantor and Sam Kemp are two very different women. Nisha, 45, lives the globetrotting life of the seriously wealthy, until her husband inexplicably cuts her off entirely. She doesn't even have the shoes she was, until a moment ago, standing in. That's because Sam--47, middle-aged, struggling to keep herself and her family afloat--has accidentally taken Nisha's gym bag. Now Nisha's got nothing. And Sam's walking tall with shoes that catch eyes--and give her a career an unexpected boost. Except Nisha wants her life back--and she'll start with her shoes... Someone Else's Shoes is a funny, moving and heartfelt story about how, for any of us just one little thing can suddenly change everything"-- No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
