Karin Slaughter is one of the few serial author's I've read over the years who continually becomes a better writer with each book. While I've enjoyed all of her books I'm happy to see her getting more and more into the characters while going away from the crazy gore that was so prolific in her first books. ( )

Per meglio comprendere le dinamiche che legano i vari personaggi è opportuno seguire l'ordine cronologigo di pubblicazione della serie di Trent.
Un appunto però relativo all'eccessivo e spesso noioso spazio dedicato alle sue relazioni amorose, a volte sembra di leggere un libro di Harmony. ( )

Unseen (2013) (Will Trent #7) by Karin Slaughter. Yet another fine example of Ms. Slaughter’s art. Will Trent is undercover attempting to infiltrate a drug ring run by an unseen. unknown but highly feared boss. Violent crime abounds in this book as well as human trafficking, some bikers and abducted humans. Corrupt cops appear, speaking of which, Lena Adams reappears in the series. She is the cop Sara Linton blames for getting Sara’s husband murdered. Sara gets involved in this case and her life is at risk. One of the first things that happens is Trent gets identified by Lena when he comes rushing into a crime scene where Lena has managed to kill her attackers.
Will wonders if Lena will blow his cover, which is the least of his problems.
This is a good read. As usual there is a lot going on, conflicts arise among the three main characters, and the threat of the seemingly all-powerful drug lord hovers over all, shading the events with the fear of the unknown evil that could lurk within any one of the book’s population. And there is the growing romance between the well-grounded doctor and the damaged detective. This book will have you guessing to the end. ( )

UNSEEN is a book in Karin Slaughter's Will Trent series. But two of the characters in this book, Sara and Lena, were originally in the Grant County series. Sara now practices medicine at a hospital in Atlanta and is Will Trent’s girlfriend. Lena is now a police detective in Macon, Georgia, which is where the story in UNSEEN takes place.

Will is an agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) in Atlanta. For now, he is working undercover in Macon, trying to infiltrate a drug ring. Sara doesn't know where he is. Coincidentally, though, she comes to Macon when her stepson, Jared, who lives there, was shot numerous times during a home invasion. Also coincidentally, he is married to Lena, who Sara believes caused her former husband's death.

In addition to Lena's job as a detective with the Macon police, Jared is a motorcycle cop there. They don't know whether this has anything to do with the attempts on their lives.

Now Faith, normally Will's partner, is also working in Macon. As a GBI agent, she heads an investigation there at the request of the Macon police.

Will's undercover job, the attempted murders, and Faith's investigation are, really, one case. UNSEEN is full of twists and turns as Will, Sara, Faith, and Lena face what men will do for the money that comes from drugs.

I’ve read most of Slaughter’s books. As with every one of them, I did not want to see UNSEEN end. I guess that’s why it’s a good thing this is part of a series. ( )

Spännande och bra driv i historien. Fokus ligger som vanligt mera på personerna och deras samspel och utveckling. Huvudhandlingen kommer lite i andra hand, vilket inte gör någonting. ( )
