Perturbador. Inquietante. Destabilizador. Poderia continuar a atirar para aqui adjectivos, mas penso que já deu para perceber. "The Homing" é tudo isso, mas é também uma tremenda história de suspense, de drama, manipulação. É daquelas histórias que nos mantêm presos até ao fim, prometendo um final que só pode ser aquele, tem de ser aquele, ele tem de safar, ele é o herói, e depois...

The Homing -- ESP, utopia, classical psychology, spooky cops, and a surprising ending. this book, while it has its flaws -- not everything resolves itself in the end, the explanations being a bit careless -- it's a fun, fast, haunting romp.

the story involves a divorced, devoted dad who feels guilt over letting his daughter, a student of Psychology, slip away. not approving of her quick, seemingly inexplicable marriage and subsequent dropping out of college, he decides to mend fences by visiting her and her new husband in the town in which she settled. while you initially think the story's doomed to be a predictable, Stepford ripoff, the story quickly begins to throw curves until you decide, "yes, i want to finish this book."
