Clouds Without Water

In the 1840s, a small town minister has determined the date of the Apocalypse is right around the corner. Another minister disagrees with his findings and soon the town is split into rival factions. This leads not only to a crisis of faith but near destruction of the town as the believers turn improving their spiritual lives and forsaking any attempts at sustaining their physical lives.

This book has a nugget of an interesting story but is bogged down by boring fire and brimstone sermons and debate of biblical references. The audiobook version I received was further hindered by a less than stellar performance as the narrator attempted accents he had not mastered and on a few occasions got confused with which character's voice he was using.
