An amazing story about the power of believing. Sara was forced t0 move to a new city with her family. New city, new school, no friends. During winter break her mom takes her to her great-grandmother's for a visit. Along the way they stop at at an Inn to rest up for the night. But this was no ordinary Inn... or was it. It all depends on if you believe. Packed with interesting facts from the past that still impact the world we live in today. ( )

This was a well written book geared toward upper elementary and tween students. I really liked how the author tied fantasy and history together. I also liked how there were lessons about bullying and how you should treat others. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get past the talking clothes! I commend that the author tried a different vehicle to tell stories of the past (the fortune cookie was new info for me!) but I think good old ghosts inside the clothes would have sufficed. I’m guessing that is just me and it still was an enjoyable novel. ( )

Great book for kids!!! The author does a wonderful job incorporating real life historical figures into the story. A wonderful mixture of a slightly spooky story with magic!!!

This is a terrific book for youngsters! I absolutely love that the story includes engaging characters, historical information, geography and a bit of magic! It is a fun story that will engage young readers. As an adult reading this, I was captivated by the child’s innocent and pure belief in magic. It certainly shot me back to my childhood and my thoughts of magic. The story is appropriately paced while the mysteriousness of the magic is very engaging. I enjoyed learning a bit too! I will share this story with my daughter when appropriate. Thank you! ( )
