This book was good, but not great. The main interest to me was in the exploration of the connections between the generations - the issue of why we are the people we are...how our actions and words as parents can impact on our children's lives. I think Mary Morris had some good examples of this; gave me cause to think.

She was also quite good at exploring relationships between peers. The book is narrated by a middle-aged divorced mother, who also recalls her teen and pre-teen years, so we cover a broad spectrum of relationships.

I guess the ending was a little disappointing - the "instant" recovery from the depths of depression seemed a little unlikely to me.

I only came across this book when I was looking for a book by Mary McGarry Morris and the library was just about to close so I didn't have time to look further. However, having found Mary Morris by luck, I think I'll look for more of her work in the future. ( )
