No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. read this book when studying to be a teacher for like a year and it was really really good, gave a wonderful exposure of what it was like to be a teacher and how to manage that landscape. really emphasized empathetic connection with students and parents. teaching is revolutionary i'm telling you, the people who study teaching at like a core philosophical level and the university level are all fucking breadpilled i swear to god. like pedagogy of the oppressed? cmon son. jonathan kozol? community based teaching and localized, individualized instruction combined with a true and deep sense of equality and mutual discovery to inspire future learning?? cmon son. shit is revolutionary as hell and getting a first hand account of that is really inspiring. In brief: every new teacher needs this book. See my blog post on it: http://gypsylibrarian.blogspot.com/2008/01/booknote-jonathan-kozols-letters-to.h... Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
In the form of a series of affectionate letters to a first grade teacher at an inner-city school, educator Kozol vividly describes his repeated visits to her classroom while, under her irreverent questioning, he also reveals his own personal stories of the years that he has spent in public schools. This book reignites a number of the controversial issues Kozol has powerfully addressed in recent years: the mania of high-stakes testing that turns many classrooms into test-prep factories where spontaneity and critical intelligence are no longer valued, the invasion of our public schools by predatory private corporations, and the inequalities of urban schools that are once again almost as segregated as they were a century ago. But most of all, these letters are rich with the happiness of teaching, the curiosity and jubilant excitement children bring into the classroom when they are in the hands of an adoring and hard-working teacher.--From publisher description.
