Mentioned by other reviewers was that it is the American point of view, might I mention any other point of view are usually either very fallible and bias, too politically correct [as this is] or controversial, truth is hard to come by In general, American Heritage picture histories haven't aged very well, and this is no exception. The wide-ranging selection of photographs necessarily includes mostly examples of then state-of-the-art documentary photographs which sometimes still resonate, sometimes not. The text is very facile, typical greatest-generation hero/villain stuff, with a minimum of analysis, especially reliable analysis.. A wonderful reference. A young boys book since most American male children go through their "war phase" (some never leave it). Many many photos and maps. A worthy read. This book has an impressive array of images to better illustrate the story of World War II but only from the point of view of the U.S. That is its only major downfall. However, if there were more points of view, then the book would be even larger. Overall, it is a nice reference to have. This books has an impressive array of images to illustrate WW II - from the point of view of the U.S. The book lacks significant representation from other points of view.
