This is a very good story to find some general information about the S’Klallam tribe’s daily life and surroundings. I love the way the illustrations are tied into each other, while looking at the beach the waves turn into the whale and a man ridding the whale. I also like the way we learn some of the Native words.
This story can be used to discuss Native American tribes in History or in Science to discuss the life cycle of Salmon. It can also be used in an English class to learn basic Clallam words. ( )
