Karen (my wife) had a paper copy of this book and told me I should read it, that she thought I’d like it.

I liked it. It’s an easy read, and it is very moving. This note in the “Afterward” helps explain its purpose:

“Trying to come to some conclusion about Jesus just from stereotypes about him is a bit like trying to decide whether or not to go to the Grand Canyon when all we’ve ever seen is a grainy etch-a-sketch doodle of it.”

Everts tries to present Jesus as he is, not as he is presented in the media. The book is 20 years old, and more needed today than it was then. ( )
