![]() No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. 7 classic George stories. My Christmas present from the Hansen-Schuler family. This picture book was a favorite of mine as a child, so I feel disloyal giving it a bad review, but it really does not stand up to the test of time, despite being a children's classic for several generations. I just can't get behind the fact that the man in the big yellow hat literally steals George from the jungles of Africa, drags him overseas on a boat, and places the monkey in a zoo, all the while acting like he is doing poor George a favor. Let me say that I am very pro-zoo; both children and adults learn very important things from visiting zoos. Zoos sen help with breeding programs for endangered species. But nowadays, animals that live in a zoo are bred in the zoo, or purchased from another zoo. Animals from the wild will most likely not be happy in a zoo, and often have great difficulty adjusting. And the reverse is also true - animals living in captivity usually can't adjust to life in the wild. I guess we were not aware of all this back in 1941 when this book was first published. However, in my opinion this book should not be read to students anymore. Curious George is a little adventurous monkey that has his bestfriend and owner, the man in the yellow hat. They are always getting into different adventures and growing their friendship. A monkey's curiosity gets him into trouble when he is in the city with the man in the yellow hat. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

Little does my daughter know, but I every time I read these pages to her, I want to slip in little things, like the Man in the Yellow Hat is actually the King in Yellow from Carcossa, and George's other name is Damian from Omen.
George was always too curious, that's why he climbed out of hell to find the King in Yellow. He was always a good little monkey. If only he wasn't so curious, he wouldn't have brought that damn book back with him to corrupt the world....
(I don't really do this to my daughter, of course, but my horror roots do make me giggle with that familiar spark of furious and never-ending desperate glee.) (
