This is fictitious story about a baker who gets himself into trouble because he used water to bake his rolls instead of milk. The duke and duchess were so upset with him that they threatened to ban him unless he created a new baked good for them. I would absolutely recommend this book for k-2 teachers to use for lessons focusing on retelling and summarizing. This story is engaging and has a great story line that is easy enough to follow along with great vocab words. Media: collage Walter the Baker by Eric Carle is fictional fantasy children's book. This story has a cute storyline of a traditional baker and his family working in thee bakery and serving the duke and his duchess. Throughout the story children use problem solving skills and see that hard work can get you places. This would be a good story to use in the classroom to use in project of some sort, weather you want the students to make their own story off of this one or get a lesson out of it. Either way this is a great story to use for a fun lesson in the classroom. Also some things that you could talk and discuss with your class would be some of the values that are shown throughout the book. The illustrations in Walter the Baker are simple water colors with a white background that leave enough room for your own imagination to explore other avenues. By order of the Duke, Walter the baker must invent a tasty roll through which the rising sun can shine three times. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

We've owned this book for two decades, but I don't believe I've ever read it before. I should have kept the streak going. ( )
