We cats can be awfully mysterious. We're often cute and cuddly. But our behavior is sometimes baffling, and we're not always purr-fect. Yet you still love us! So it's time for us to set the record straight. We're ready to answer your questions and give you the cat's meow on why we do the things we do. Why do we purr? Why do we climb trees? And do we really get fur balls in our stomachs? Inside, you'll find all the answers--fur sure!… (més)

This book, written from a cat's point of view, answers questions that children may have about how cats work. Each question is a "chapter" in the book, and each answer features a few pictures to go along with the facts provided by the author. ( )

This is cute book with the real pictures of cats and kittens taken with a rounded lens, making the kitties have a large head. It is written in a fashion that the cats are answering our questions, a spin on the 1st person writing. There are a lot of good facts that explain why cats are do what they do. There is cat humor and thoughfulness mixed in, like the reason a cat brings it's own a mouse it caught. Brief mentions of cat differences, and different characteristics are mingled throughout the book.

I must admit I did not read everyfact in this book. I did however read all the questions that I wonder about my cat, and still feel like he's a mystery. My favorite shared thought in the book is how cats like to lick themselves as much as possible so that they leave there scent behind when they rub on our legs. It's kinda like he's marking me as his territory, just in case I think of cheating on him! This is a great book for children to learn more about the quirky things cats do!

This is a great book to use in class for an animal unit. Students could make a flip chart or book of a cat and then write an interesting fact about cats from the book. This would be great for Venn-Diagrams for likes and differences between animals or even cat breeds.
