Silly scary book to introduce vampires to children in a fun way. I thought this was a creative story.

I like that this is a chapter book with pictures and how the characters can be easily related to. As you go through the book you can really sense the different personalities between the characters and even though we are not dogs and cats everyone has their own personality. The dog is sensible and realistic, while the cat is tactical and a worrywart. . As we all know most kids go for the books with the most pictures but once they get to the age of reading chapter books it can be hard to grab their interest and this book is a great way to introduce chapter books while still giving student visuals every few pages. This can be helpful for students that are still approaching grade and still need visual cues. It is cute and funny and kids will like that it's from the dog's perspective. ( )

This is an easy reader adaptation of Deborah and James Howe's "Bunnicula" for children in grades 1 to 3. The original chapter book version of "Bunnicula" is too advanced for children at that age, and so the Atheneum Books for Young Readers Ready-to-Read series fills that gap. "The Vampire Bunny" is a perfect go-to book for readers in grades 3 and 4.

This adaptation is divided into short chapters, each with somewhat challenging paragraphs and amusing dialogue. There are 7 chapters total, even though the book is only 42 pages. Each page features a color illustration depicting what is happening at that point in the plot, which helps the reader to understand the text if he or she is having trouble with it. The colored paintings are also quite amusing because of the cat Chester's silly antics. The arrangement of text and illustration also varies on every single page, which ensures that the book doesn't get boring. ( )

Bunnicula is the scary (but not too scary) story of the Monroe family's mysterious new pet rabbit, who turns out to be a vampire. But don't worry, this vampire bunny - called Bunnicula, a composite of "bunny" and "Dracula" - only sucks the life out of vegetables. Funny, and just scary enough to be exciting. The mystery of Bunnicula is revealed at a good, quick paste so it's early elementary school readers don't get too impatient along the way.

This fun and easy-to-read book is perfect for children transitioning from picture books to lengthier reads with manageable vocabulary, but still containing a number of colorful illustrations. Kids who love animals will enjoy reading about this cute and cuddly bunny with fangs, the smart but completely paranoid Chester the cat, who is suspicious of Bunnicula from the start, and Harold the kindly canine narrator.
