In my opinion, this wonderful book that shows the dentist is not a scary place to go. The main character, named Little Critter, can be relatable to other children who feel that going to the dentist is scary. I liked how the book was from a first person point of view. The illustrations in the book enhanced the main characters emotions about going to the dentist. Throughout the book you could see all the clear emotions that the main character depicted. For example, when it was Little Critters turn he said, “I had to see the dentist all by myself. But I didn’t mind—too much.” Little Critters face looked scared and worried. Critter then said, “I went into a weird room. It looked like a spaceship.” The illustrations of the dentist room really did look like a spaceship and that Little Critter was going to fly it. The illustrations were very bright and colorful. Each illustration offered a sense of reality. All the characters looked as if they were real and not cartoons. The writing really engaged the reader and flowed well with all the illustrations. The author did a great job describing all the steps when going to the dentist. The big idea of this book is to not be afraid of going to the dentist and to make readers more comfortable about their first trip to the dentist. ( )

in my opinion this was a pretty good book. I remember reading books from this series as a child, so I automatically enjoyed the book for that reason. The illustrations were also very will done, and coordinated with the text on each page. I liked that the book is relate-able to all children who are going to the dentist or those who may have already been. Although I liked the story, I didn't think it had much educational value, but young readers do love it! ( )
