I couldn't stand that she had known JT THREE days and was already in love with him. That she expected commitment so soon after their first time having sex. There were so many plot holes in the story as well. It was written in cohort with Bob Mayer. He wrote JT's perspective and it was like two worlds colliding. The girly, someone save me side. With JT's roughness and badass-ness. It was not written well together. The sex scenes were unnecessary and actually deterred from the plot. I think that the story would have been a lot better without the love aspect. I liked the idea of a movie being a front for the Russian mob trying to get money and jade antiques from the Mexico and back into the Russian hands. All in all this book was okay. I much preferred their other book that they wrote together Agnes and The Hitman. I have loved (or really liked) just about all of Jennifer Crusie's books. Her collaboration with Bob Mayer has been gold. Bob adds an excitement and male perspective that really enhances the story. Through the characters' back-and-forth exchanges you can almost hear the back-and-forth that probably goes on between Jenny & Bob. Re-read this in 2019 from CPL. Didn't remember it at all but it is still an amusing book. I enjoyed the second read. Both the hero and heroine were strong characters and there was a charming child. This was more of an action book than a mystery. The action was sustained through the book and the romance was semi-believable. Only semi because things happened so fast, within days. Well, this book was a bit of a mess. I honestly didn't like it, but have given it two stars because - well - there were a few moments that were good in it at least. The problem I had with this book was the overall lack of character development. While Crusie's protagonist did evolve over the course of the book, the male 'lead' didn't. And the fellow in the swamp? Honestly? I still don't know what he was doing there, and I already finished the book. The book was a wash, but I'll probably read the other collaborations these two did anyway. The books are fun, and I adore Crusie's wit. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
