Published posthumously, Ambrose's novel of the Lewis and Clark expedition uses George Shannon as the narrator of the story. Shannon was the youngest member of the expedition, and his fictionalized version of the journey makes interesting reading. Ambrose's inclusion of sexual encounters and fathering children along the trail demythologizes the Corps a bit. The account of Shannon's post expedition career is interesting too. A quick read.
