Summary; Just like the hit book "Diary of a Worm" it tells the perspective of the spider through journal entries which was also mentioned in diary of a worm. In this book the spider talks about his grandpa and his friend who is a fly and that fly gets his own diary of a fly which is a must see as well. This books twist of humor shows the kids how a spider would fictionally live possibly reducing fears of spiders. I recommend this book if you liked the Doreen Cronin series. Great Book! ( )

Spider is telling all about his life. His grandfather is giving very important information about what a spider is suppose to when facing a situation. Spider is also telling about his life and what he goes through. Spider tells of things that scare him and things that he scares. Spider and fly are friends. Books show that two people can be complete opposite and can still be friends. ( )

Diary of a Spider is an adorable story about a spider who learns that people should not judge one another before getting to know someone! This book is structured just like a diary, with dates at the top of the page to represent diary entries. Though the character, Spider, does not write "Dear Diary" before each entry, it is obvious that each page is a diary entry. The author's craft in this book is very humorous! Doreen Cronin creates characters who do similar things that human students do in everyday life, like going to gym class, or dealing with a bully. This allows the reader to feel close and connected with Spider, especially when he makes a new friend, Fly, that his family does not like. I love that the story is written as multiple diary entries because it makes the story easy to read for young students. Fortunately, the diary entries are not just a jumble of thoughts, like normal diaries, but rather has a progressive story about Spider and his new friend Fly. ( )
