S'està carregant… The Narrows (2004)de Michael Connelly
![]() No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. Wow The Narrows was a fantastic sequel to the book The Poet. I was happy the author made it a Harry Bosch book. In this book The Poet has started killing again and begins taunting the FBI and in particular Rachael Walling. Bosch is pursuing the mysterious death of a friend who retired from the FBI. Very soon Rachael and Harry’s paths cross and they alone figure out The Poet’s ultimate intentions. Michael Connelly as always delivers a fast pace excellent story. I have read probably ten Connelly books over the past six years. He is a consistent, solid story teller. I've never read a bad Connelly book and the stories hang together especially well. For me, this one ranks as his best so far. What makes it different is the way he alternates the points of view. He may place odd numbered chapters with Harry Bosch, an investigator with a life, then places even numbered chapters with a federal agent investigating a murder scene in the desert about halfway between Los Angeles, CA and Las Vegas, Nevada. The suspense is well maintained, and he later feeds in a third point of view, who is the killer both Bosch and the Federal Agent seek. This story also includes a rare gem where Bosch, a single father out on his own on the trail of criminals, hangs out in a hotel in Las Vegas, and briefly makes an emotional connection wifth a woman staying in the same hotel. Just like those ships we hear that are passing in the night, she moves on and they never really get to know each other. It surely made Bosch ever more human and is, in my view, a small thing that haunts us more than the murders. Poor Harry. doesn't even know her name, I think. PS ... Another of his top books, The Lincoln Lawyer, also ranks at least four stars for me. This one follows an attorney with a more trraditional point of view story. It was made into a fine film, too. As I have said, though, if you are reading a Connelly story, you are on the right track. His work compares to others of great writing prowess such as Robert B Parker, Gar Anthony Haywood and Raymond Chandler. Enjoy the ride. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

FBI agent Rachel Walling finally gets the call she's dreaded for years, the one that tells her the Poet has surfaced. She has never forgotten the serial killer who wove lines of poetry in his hideous crimes--and apparently he has not forgotten her. Former LAPD detective Harry Bosch gets a call, too--from the widow of an old friend. Her husband's death seems natural, but his ties to the hunt for the Poet make Bosch dig deep. Arriving at a derelict spot in the California desert where the feds are unearthing bodies, Bosch joins forces with Rachel. Now the two are at odds with the FBI...and squarely in the path of the Poet, who will lead them on a wicked ride out of the heat, through the narrows of evil, and into a darkness all his own... Rachel Walling is one of these and is used as bait by her colleagues to lure him out.
An interesting plot well executed showing the FBI doesn't share information within, is to worried about politics and public opinion losing site of the investigation.
