Includes reprints of two volumes of poetry Brown wrote early in her writing career: The Hand that Cradles the Rock (first published 1971) and Songs to a Handsome Woman (first published 1973) along with an introduction by the author herself. The Hand that Cradles the Rock is heavily influenced by the classical Latin and Greek that Brown was reading. The Songs to a Handsome Woman are love poems to a woman (an artist) whom Brown loved.

Many of the poems are very short (ten or less lines) although some are several pages long. A pleasure to read. ( )
