VERY similar to Peter Reynolds book "The Dot." But this one is about being willing to do things not perfectly. As someone who struggles with perfectionism, I appreciated a book where we can do things to the best of our ability. Even if it is "ish" ( )

Little boy Ramon loved to draw. He drew everything he saw. One day, while he was drawing a flower vase, his brother looked at it and made fun of Roman’s drawing. Disappointed, Roman made more drawings for months to follow. Still, he was not happy he gave up, throwing away all the crumbled sheets of paper. His sister, Marisol, came into the room, picked up a crumbled piece, and ran away. Ramon rushed and followed her to her room. What happened to Ramon and her sister?

We picked this book for its intriguing title. The book is easy-to-read for young children, with an empowering message of perseverance while not worrying much about being perfect all the time. In addition, the sketch-styled illustrations make it a more exciting reading and doodle activity for young children.

Ish by Peter H. Reynolds’ whimsically illustrated story inspires you to do what you love and treasure those moments that delight you. ( )

I thought this book was so cute because the boy loved to draw and ended up continuing to draw even though all that he would draw didn’t exactly look like what it was supposed to be.

This is a great book to teach students that thinking out of the box is really important, sometimes is more important that just know the "only one" right answer. This will help me teach students about critical thinking and why is it important to provide options when we don't know the right answer to a problem. ( )
