The author describes and documents the step by step greed of the European settlers in confiscating eventually all of the Cherokee lands, finally rounding them up and kicking them out of the eastern United States. Several individuals are described, one who invented a written language for the Cherokees.
One story toward the end of the book is a first-hand account by a US soldier who spoke Cherokee of the forced march out of the eastern US to lands out west.
The books writing does not seem biased but factual, illustrating the shamefull behavior of Americans.
The book is worth reading, not so much for its Cherokee culture, but the exposure of how people usually treat others of different culture. ( )
