It isn't a children's book, per se, but its content is certainly accessible to upper elementary readers, and, it will prove useful to teachers developing lesson plans about American Indians.
"Debunking common myths and providing information about everything from katsina dolls to casinos and Pocahontas to powwows, Native staff members at the National Museum of the American Indian have handled a wide array of questions over the years. This book presents nearly 100 of their answers. This accessible and informative book counters deeply embedded stereotypes while providing a lively introduction to diverse Native histories and contemporary cultures "-- No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

National Native American Heritage Month would be a perfect time to use this book. I would probably use it as a reference to read answers to students in discussion surrounding other books read during the month. It will sit on my shelf right next to The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Native American History by Walter Fleming. ( )
